Judith Jaeckle

Judith is an accomplished Australian endurance and event rider.

Her key credentials include a Diploma in Equine Management, a Diploma in Education, and a Track Work Rider License.

In one of the closest ever races, Judith Jaeckle, took 3rd place in the Mongol Derby, the world’s longest and toughest horse race. She also finished the race on a clean vet- card, without any penalties and never changed a horse from the draw.

Based on the ancient horse messenger system used by Genghis Khan, in a country where the horse is king, at 1000km the Derby is the toughest test on the planet for equestrian endurance riders. Whilst horses are changed roughly every 35km, at checkpoints strung out throughout the country, riders must endure being in the saddle for up to 200km a day and face the challenges of riding over twenty-eight different semi-wild horses – from the animals’ varying temperaments and bucking abilities and the inevitable falls and mishaps that happen along the way to navigating through challenging terrain, including giant sand dunes and freezing mountain passes.

Judith’s performance in the Mongol Derby—arming herself with technical training, equine management expertise, and sheer grit—speaks volumes about her capabilities as a rider and her love for extreme challenges.

Judith started riding in Germany as a child and since then never stopped. Moving to Switzerland for many years, Judith has completed several dressage, jumping and eventing certificates in Europe and worked in a jump racing yard in the UK.

In December 2021 Judith moved to Australia to study Equine Management at the Marcus Oldham College in Geelong. After graduating in December 2022 with the DUX of the course Award Judith has continued to work in the Equestrian and Racing industry as a horse trainer,  pre-training, young horse education, sales preparation and coaching. Within that work she gained lots of experience with particularly nervous horses and developed systems to teach them the basics before they move on into a successful career as performance or racehorses.
